Inaugurated in 1934 in Art Deco style, Le Normandy quickly became a major cultural venue in Le Havre. Initially conceived as a cinema with one of the city's largest screens, over the decades it has established itself as a multi-purpose venue, hosting concerts, plays and music-hall acts. Famous names such as Édith Piaf, Jacques Brel and Yves Montand have performed here, making the Normandy a symbol of Le Havre's artistic life.
After closing its doors in the 1990s, the building was gradually restored to its former glory. Today, the Théâtre Le Normandy continues to embody both its heritage and its cultural life.
