Why can't I get a refund if I topped up my cashless account with vacation checks?

Vacation vouchers (ANCV) are a form of payment intended for social purposes, funded in part by employers and works councils as part of a tax benefit.

The regulations governing these securities expressly prohibit their conversion into cash or their redemption in any form, including when they have been used to load a cashless payment method.

In practical terms, this means that:

  • Any top-up made using vacation vouchers is final and cannot be refunded, either in full or in part.
  • This rule applies even if the balance has not been fully spent by the end of the event or festival.
  • This applies only to the portion of the top-up paid for with vacation checks: if you also topped up using another payment method (credit card, cash), that portion may be eligible for a refund under the usual terms and conditions.

We therefore recommend that you plan your spending in advance and use your entire vacation voucher balance directly at the venue before the retail locations close or the event ends.
